Last week I got the chance to tour the GoZone services of the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) with Lewisville Mayor TJ Gilmore, DCTA CEO Raymond Suarez, and DCTA Director of Government Relations Brittney Farr.
GoZone works like a minibus that comes when you want, where you want. As of 9/7, you can book rides with a telephone call or through the GoZone app on your smartphone. GoZone services allows you to book services in Lewisville and Highland Village (or the City of Denton). DCTA is also partnering with social services agencies throughout the county to provide GoZone access for residents who need additional help.
Once Castle Hills is annexed into the City of Lewisville, DCTA will begin offering GoZone service in Castle Hills as well, which is expected as early as January 2022.
My GoZone trip was easy to use, and timely. Visit www.dctagozone.net for more information on how to book a ride. It is because of this commitment by the voters that DCTA has the funding to offer public transportation in the member cities of Lewisville, Highland Village and Denton. Beginning on September 7th, DCTA, in an agreement with VIA, will begin a new service called GoZone, which provides cost effective transit services for the majority of Lewisville, as opposed to fixed bus routes that cover less than half of the city today.
Thank you Mayor TJ Gilmore, Raymond Suarez, Brittany Farr and Brandi Bird for the GoZone and DCTA Tour!
